ABOUT YASMINE

Yasmine Shimi is a graduate of city of Birmingham university of Art and Design.

Upon completion of her course, she followed it up with a Post-graduate year at Croydon college of fashion and textile in the UK.

she is also a qualified yoga teacher and her fascination with the human body is apparent in many of her paintings.

After raising a family in Surrey, whilst continuing to teach Yoga and sell her unique art pieces at craft fairs across the south-east, she moved to Notting hill.

Central London's urban life was a massive new source of inspiration and initiated a highly creative and productive period in her art career . The "Soho project", together with her previous yoga studies, further developed her love of figurative artwork.

She starts by using simple lines to create form and movement, developing the image into a more complex work, using colour to create mood.

She now lives in london and the south of France.

She comments:

"My work is influenced by artists such as Picasso, Matisse, Bacon, Dali and the Fauve Movement. I believe that the body and landscape of Nature are integral to each other.

the contrast of urban life with the serenity of the sea and the mountains, combined with the legendary light of the French Riviera, are a source of constant inspiration to me. Once the soul is enriched, creativity flows like a river - enhancing life !"
